This kind of irritates me. I don't think it's fair that it suggests that women can't drive manual, because I know plenty that can, including my mom and my sister. And also, it implies that all guys can drive manual, when a very large percentage of the ones I know wouldn't know what the fuck to do if a third pedal sprouted in their footwell.

So even though I'm not a woman, I sort of take offense to this ignorant generalization, and it irritates me that some women (like the one who posted it) are completely ok with it.

It is really sad when a grown man can't drive stick though, but when a women can't drive stick most people guys don't think anything of it except "let me teach you it'll be so much FUN!"

it's true...sad but true. But we have the manual M5...AND while the Gt3 only comes in a PDK (or whatever it is)...I guarantee the Z06 is going to have a 7 speed.

My mother prefers a manual and has only owned sticks, my whole life anyway, besides the Rambler when I was diaper wearing shit. My sister has only owned sticks, never an automatic, and she prefers 4X4 trucks. My niece demanded she be taught on a manual and wants one because, "It's how you can tell the good boys from the lame ones."

I am surrounded by women in my life who defy that assumption.

Their response after 15 minutes of violently stalling it in an empty parking lot: 'What is wrong with you?'

There's a girl I work with who refuses to drive anything other than manual. Her DD was a Forester until she got rear-ended, so now its a 2010 WRX. Her toy is a Harley Softtail.

All of my sisters DD manual cars. Mini, Civic, Saturn. They'd all open a can of whoop-ass on someone about this.

Sure, it's not for everyone (and some people genuinely do struggle with it), but that's not gender related in the least bit.

I know a handful of people who confuse the pedals. Needless to say, I keep my distance from them in general, but especially when cars are involved.

This is absurd. My mom and sister also know how to drive stick. My mom drives extremely well and my sister is well on her way. She loves driving her car (08 Forrester 5MT). Honestly I've had more women ask me to teach them to drive stick than guys. It's always surprising and I'm more than happy to teach somebody who wants to learn...especially a cute girl haha

(I had previous experience, but never owned one/had enough time to master the skill)

I'm a woman, an auto enthusiast, and I drive a stick.

This kind of stuff doesn't keep me from being and auto enthusiast because the real life enthusiasts I meet definitely don't feel that way. I generally get the feeling that guys are happy that a woman enjoys the things they enjoy and they are always welcoming on canyon drives and car shows alike.
